UK – The International School for Government at King’s College London has appointed Professor Michael Sanders as director, succeeding Andrew Massey, who is retiring.
Sanders is currently a professor of public policy in the Policy Institute at King’s, and has worked at the institution since 2019. Prior to that, he was chief executive of What Works for Children’s Social Care.
Sanders’ other roles have included chief scientist at the Behavioural Insights Team and head of research at the Cabinet Office.
Massey helped to lead the establishment of the ISFG in 2018 and has led the school since.
Sanders takes up the director role from the end of November 2024.
The ISFG announced the appointment of Sanders at the same time as announcing a new programme for the UK Civil Service Government Policy Fast Stream, which will involve participants in the policy profession taking 30 credits of modules at King’s, covering areas including economics and evidence-based policy.
The ISFG is part of the Faculty of Social Science & Public Policy at King’s and aims to equip policymakers and civil servants through education, research and public engagement.
