The Market Research Society launched the Research Heroes programme to celebrate the sector’s unsung heroes. Julia Brannigan has joined the cadre of Research Heroes 2023.
Julia has a depth of experience across a plethora of markets and sectors. She brings a cultural perspective having worked overseas. Her passion is to guide clients to the best business outcomes based on golden nuggets of consumer insights. She loves mentoring younger researchers, sharing knowledge accumulated over the years.
Julia was nominted because "there is no research topic or sector that Julia has not worked on and has often presented at conferences about ways in which she brought an alternative view to a topic. Unassuming, she will not stand up and take credit where it is due, but Julia is one of the industry’s long time experts, and deserves a place at the top table."
What is the biggest challenge you have faced during your career?
Moving from the UK to New Zealand and really appreciating that speaking the same language does not mean sharing the same culture.
What will be the next big trend or development in the research industry, and why?
I think increasingly there will be a desire to really crack the say-do gap. More will be done to unlock actual versus claimed behaviour.
Who inspires you as a researcher?
Colleagues, clients and consumers.
