US— William McKenna has rejoined Arbitron in the newly created role of senior vice president of new media ventures where he will be responsible for seeking out new business opportunities for the firm’s portable people meter (PPM) technology.
William McKenna
McKenna last worked at the firm in the late 1980s where he co-created the ScanAmerica syndicated TV ratings service that combined people meters with an in-home scanner.
He was most recently chief executive officer and president at Integrated Media Measurement – the firm whose technology portfolio, patents and trade name was acquired by Arbitron earlier this year.
McKenna also previously founded Caribbean-based marketing and media research agency Mediafax, which was eventually sold to Ibope Group.
Arbitron president and CEO William Kerr said: “Bill’s decades of experience as an innovator in media research make him a perfect choice to develop new markets and platforms for our portable people meter technology. As current media continue to expand to new platforms and as new media emerge, Bill will work to establish Arbitron as an innovative and leading provider of media and market intelligence.”

Bill McKenna is a tremendous innovator, technician and a man of integrity, admired and respected by colleagues, clients and friends. Having had the opportunity to work with Bill for several years where he launched the Mediafax audience measurement service in Puerto Rico, I know that Arbitron's decision to reach out to Bill will be a huge success.
