AUSTRALIA— Brian Fine, the former chairman of The Online Research Unit (ORU), has set up a new online panel company called Australia Online Research (AOR).
News of the launch comes just days after he officially parted company with The ORU and its parent company STW, having announced his resignation in September.
Fine made his name with the launch of AMR Interactive in 1984, which he later sold to STW. Most recently he led the spin-off of The ORU from AMR and was chairman of the STW Insights division until last week.
His new venture AOR will provide business and consumer sample for online studies, as well as mobile phone sample.
Fine says the company will work primarily with research agencies “which require the security of quality fieldwork for their clients”. He says scientific panel blending techniques and Census-based weighting will be used to ensure samples and outputs “are representative of the target population”.
