US— Business process management firm Genpact has signed a deal to acquire media and business research agency EmPower Research.
The firm said that EmPower’s range of social media research, media monitoring and measurement services would add “significant expertise and intellectual property” to its Smart Decisions Services business, which offers analytics, research, re-engineering and risk management services.
Genpact president and CEO Tiger Tyagarajan (pictured) said: “EmPower Research adds tremendous capabilities in extracting insights from social media, a fast emerging source of data about consumer behaviour.”
The acquisition is expected to close by the end of the month. Terms were not disclosed.
EmPower co-founder Debjani Deb said the acquisition provides the “scale that our business needs to expand our offerings and help many more companies leverage the power of research, data and social media channels for maximum business impact”.
