US— Healthcare researcher IMS Health has appointed Ari Bousbib as its new chief executive officer, replacing David Carlucci who will stay on as chairman for a transitional period.
Bousbib (pictured) will take up the role on 1 September and joins from aerospace technology firm United Technologies Corporation where he spent 14 years, most recently as president of the commercial companies division.
Before his time with United Technologies Bousbib had spells with the Otis Elevator Company and technology consultancy Booz Allen Hamilton.
He will succeed David Carlucci in the role, although the incumbent CEO will remain in his chairman’s role for an unspecified transitional period.
Carlucci said: “This is an exciting and important time at IMS, and I am extremely pleased that Ari, an executive with with a superb track record, will lead the global IMS team.”
Jim Coulter, founding partner at TPG Capital – one of the private equity companies that bought IMS earlier this year – said that Carlucci had played “a prominent role in greatly enhancing the value of the company’s offerings in the marketplace and extending IMS’s worldwide growth strategy to a broader range of health industry clients”. “We are pleased that he will continue to serve on the board and work with Ari to assure a smooth transition,” he said.
