US— VoteIt, a startup company that has developed a tool to aid group decision-making, has hired veteran market researcher Jim Longo to lead client development and marketing.
Longo takes up the role of senior vice president at the New Orleans-based company today after more than 10 years working for online qual software specialist Itracks. Prior to that he spent more than eight years with Harris Interactive.
The VoteIt platform attracted $800,000 in seed funding last November and is still in private beta. But in an interview with TechCrunchCEO Taylor Beery said the company has set out to create a voting process that mimics “a live, real world vote, allowing for debate, presentation of evidence and consensus building”.
Voting can take place online via PC or mobile and can accommodate groups of any size, according to the company. With Longo on board and with his background in market research, it seems fair to assume that the company sees VoteIt as a platform for companies to research and engage with their customers.

Congrats to Jim, Taylor, and the rest of the NOLA MR scene. Huge win for startups in the big easy and great to see another tech firm hitting the ground running.
