US— Arbitron has appointed Gregg Lindner to fill the newly created role of chief research officer and executive vice president of service innovation.
Lindner (pictured) joins from Scarborough Research, the consumer and media research agency joint venture between Arbitron and Nielsen, where he was executive vice president and managed the company’s day-to-day business and operations.
Before joining Scarborough in 1993 he worked at Simmons Market Research, which is now part of Experian, and had a spell with Arbitron between 1981 and 1992.
Now back at Arbitron, Lindner will be responsible for the firm’s research quality and methods, product development as well as standards for its portable people meter (PPM), diary and cross-platform services. He will also be tasked with leading Arbitron’s Media Ratings Council (MRC) accreditation initiatives and will serve as an Arbitron representative on the Scarborough partners committee.
Arbitron president Bill Kerr said: “Gregg brings with him more than 25 years of experience as a leader across key areas of our business – research, product development and operations – areas that are important to Arbitron’s future growth. In addition to his strong technical skills, Gregg is widely respected.”
