US — M3 Global Research has hired eight former Epocrates employees following the latter’s decision to stop selling its QuickRecruit panel and fielding services.
The two healthcare specialists have had a co-marketing agreement since January 2012, however that deal has also come to an end.
Both developments follow the takeover of Epocrates by athenahealth, which is a provider of cloud-based electronic health record, practice management and care coordination services.
Epocrates’ main business line is providing physicians with disease, drug and healthcare reference tools. Following the takeover, Epocrates has “a renewed commitment to its core mission,” said senior vice president Heather Gervais in a note sent to Epocrates’ market research customers.
“As such, we are making changes to our market research offerings,” wrote Gervais. “Effective immediately, Epocrates will no longer sell QuickRecruit panel/fielding services. Instead, we will focus exclusively on our MedInsight Q&A and Survey Services.”
Gervais said that any outstanding panel projects would be managed to completion.
The Epocrates staff joining the M3 team are Marilyn Blumenthal as client specialist, Sheryl Lowenhar as strategist, Michael Wildt and Estuardo Torres as vice-presidents of market research, Amir Forouzan, Beth Reilly and Ambika Sikka as senior project managers, and Michael Bondiskey as project manager.
In addition, M3 has hired a further 10 new members of staff:

They let go ALL the people that work on MedInsight. There is no way they can/will support those services.
