UK — NatCen Social Research is to undertake the fieldwork for the Next Steps Age 25 survey in 2015.
Next Steps, previously known as the Longitudinal Study of Young People in England, is a longitudinal study of around 16,000 people born in 1989-90. It is managed by the Centre for Longitudinal Studies (CLS) at the Institute of Education, and funded by the Economic and Social Research Council.
The mixed-method fieldwork combines web, telephone and face-to-face interviews and is designed to provide new insight into the economic circumstances, family life and health and wellbeing of the respondents. The study began in 2004, but participants have not been contacted since 2010. Before fieldwork commences in 2015, NatCen will undertake a campaign in conjunction with CLS to re-engage with the study’s participants.
“Next Steps is a really important cohort because it bridges the gap between the 1970 British Cohort Study and the Millennium Cohort Study,” said Lisa Calderwood, principal investigator of Next Steps at the Centre for Longitudinal Studies.
“The Age 25 survey will collect vital information about the impact of the recent recession on this generation.”
