The funding round was led by Connect Ventures, along with existing investor Inventure and participation from Alliance VC, Antler and Greens.

In a blog post by co-founder Johan Baltzar, the company said that the new funding would be used to accelerate product development, expand the team and reach more companies globally.

Steep has also released a beta artificial intelligence-enabled interface to help users navigate data and allow users to write data request in natural language with Steep the generating a relevant chart.

Baltzar wrote: “We built Steep on the idea that data needs to be in everyone’s hands – and with Steep’s metrics-first approach, this is now becoming a reality.

“Data teams are supporting entire organisations with Steep, and hundreds of end users are collaborating and analysing data independently. We’re more convinced than ever that this is the future way of doing BI, and the love we’re hearing from users and data leaders tells us that this change needs to happen.”
